Lyrics
I was reaching for starlight,
Only to discover
I was grasping at a reflection
In a puddle in a gutter.
I only needed to look up;
I only needed to do better.
Story / Background
The chorus and first verse came from words spoken by Smidge bassist Eamonn "Easy" Yarrow, which prompted guitarist Chris "Blade" Blakehart to recognize the makings of a song and ask him to write them down, saying "Write those lyrics down before you forget. Please? I can feel the chords for them." The song was subsequently developed by the band as a whole.
