Description
Ben "Deviant" Travers is the bassist of the fictional band, Twisted Temper. His character can be found in the books Twelve Months (book), Twelve Months: Reprieve (book), and Twelve Months: Broken Chord (book).
Character
From the outside looking in, Benjamin Kyle Travers is the personification of composure. The heroine, Sylvie Embers, of the Twelve Months (book) series sparked an instant friendship with the bassist of Twisted Temper from the very beginning. His unruffled approach and sage advice makes this British born musician a popular listening ear amongst the Twisted Temper family. In spite of his good nature, there are references to a darker level of Ben’s character. Nicknamed “Deviant” by his best friend, Jamison "Jam" Rivera, we’re led to believe that the bassist has had violent outbursts in the past:
"Ben and I had never gone off the rails at the same time before. He calmed me down, I calmed him down. Give—take, push—pull. He seldom said a word out of place, rarely let someone or something get the better of his equanimity. But if someone did kindle that fire in him, he turned… in the worst sense of the word. Benjamin Travers was probably the only person that scared the shit out of me when he was in a rage. He was volatile, unreadable, and downright hell when he snapped."
Physical appearance
Travers’ congenial smile and British bur makes him the most welcoming of the Twisted Temper family. Described as having short, blond, messy hair, a lithe but toned physique, and all-knowing hazel eyes, he emanates a boyish but highly appealing energy. A lover of idiosyncrasies, R.Gadd (Author) alludes to Travers’ quirk of wrapping his fingers in black tape many times throughout the books.

There are several references throughout the Twelve Months (book) series to the tattoos on Travers’ neck and fingers, however, there is no indication as to what these tattoos actually are.

For a minute I forgot to breathe as Ben’s words lit a match inside me. I always knew my best friend was a deep-thinking motherfucker, but for some reason, what he’d just said hit a homerun. The rooted and the rootless… The true divide between the world. Not race or religion. It was contentment, love, finding someone who wanted to stand with you, always.
“Soppy, I know. But I see I’ve hit a nerve,” Ben murmured.”
